- Promote excellence in nursing care of patients through the support and development of the nursing staff, the development of evidence-based nursing practice and the creation of an environment that facilitates the continual redefinition of quality patient care.
- Promote competency of nursing staff through evidence-based orientation, staff development and continuing education utilizing adult learning principles.
- Oversee and develop curriculum for all educational presentations, material, handouts produced by Nursing Education Department (SBAR; SPH; Caregiver Act; etc.)
- Promote, conduct and utilize nursing research-related patient care and clinical practice.
- Advise and counsel staff for professional development and advancement through individual and group consultation. Oversee and coordinate education and in-services implementation of new technologies and products, use of EVB Tresearch, and new policies and procedures.
- Evaluate outcomes of educational activities with measures such as written evaluations, competency assessments, chart reviews, patient and/or staff interviews and divisional QI data.
- Coordinate learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate academic nursing students, as well as for international nursing observational experiences and specialty nursing clinical placements
- Plan and manage hospital-wide clinical educational activities to deliver comprehensive, compassionate quality patient care consistent with the hospital mission.
- Serve as Chair of Medical Surgical value analysis committee; Co-chair of Safe Patient Handling & Medication Safety committee.
- Active member of Steering committee; CLABSI committee; TEAM 1 committee; P&T Committee; Readmissions committee; Utilization committee; Diversity committee; Work closely with HR to enhance recruitment process workflow.
Director, NUrsing education Dept, Mount Sinai Beth israeL (MSBI) June 2013 – December 2015
Assumed responsibilities as Acting Director for Beatrice Renfield Nursing education department, overseeing all educational, managerial, and financial operations for several MSBI locations (total nursing staff of 1500.)
- Organized Joint Commission preparedness across all sites to a successful 2011 and 2014 Joint Commission accreditation.
- Piloted first and subsequent annual MSBI Research Days and Poster Presentation Events (80 participants/40 posters in 2013; 80 participants/26 posters in 2014). Serve as Chair of the research committee.
- Analyzed expenses, operations and budget control measurements; approved departmental payroll, work authorization and tuition reimbursement for all nursing staff enrolled in school (Approx. 600 students annually).
- Coordinated responses to ongoing new education needs in partnership with existing labor management committees and developed additional arrangements with colleges for tuition discounts.
- Hired and mentored 3 nurse education managers. Guided and monitored nurse education managers to update all orientation content, orienting more than 434 new hired personnel annually.
- Supervised the nurse education managers’ coordination of new clinical products, in-services, programs and trainings, ACLS/BLS/PALS certification classes.
